When people ask how I got into makeup, I always laugh a little because I never planned this path. It truly found me. I often say the job fell right into my lap because that’s exactly how it feels.
When I was 13 years old, I was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma in my hip. The treatment included 14 rounds of chemotherapy and a major surgery that removed half of my pelvis without replacement. I lost my hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows, and my weight dropped to just 80 pounds.
To feel more like myself again, I turned to makeup. It became my escape, my creative outlet, and my confidence builder. I spent 150 nights in the hospital practicing on myself, and before long, I started doing makeup for other patients, friends, and family. What began as a distraction quickly became my passion and purpose.
By the time I was 18, I was working for Sephora and booking clients for bridal makeup. It was a dream come true for that same girl who started doing makeup as therapy in the hospital. I am forever so grateful to be healthy and living my dream life every single day.
